Jordan Active takes you beyond the famous highlights and into the landscapes in between. You'll spend your days moving through canyons, mountains and desert terrain, following trails that connect some of Jordan's most remarkable places.

From the dramatic Wadi Al-Ghuweir canyon and the remote landscapes of Dana and Feynan to Petra's ancient trails and the vast open spaces of Wadi Rum, every part of the journey offers a different experience.

It's an active adventure for women who want to see Jordan, feel it and experience it on foot.

8 days. One journey through Jordan

From dramatic canyons and remote mountain landscapes to ancient trails, Petra and the vast desert of Wadi Rum.

DAY 1 —Arrive in Jordan

From arrival to the mountains

Arrive at Queen Alia International Airport, where you’ll be met by your local team before travelling south towards Shobak.

The journey starts quietly. As you leave Amman behind, the landscape gradually changes and the mountains of southern Jordan begin to appear.

DAY 2 — WADI AL-GHUWEIR → FEYNAN

Into the canyon

After breakfast, we leave Shobak behind and travel to Wadi Al-Ghuweir, where your Jordan adventure truly begins on foot.

The trail leads deep into one of southern Jordan’s most spectacular canyons. Walk between towering sandstone walls, through the changing landscape and onwards towards Feynan.

Today is a full day on the trail, with a mix of canyon and valley terrain.

Distance: approx. 17-20 km
Walking time: approx. 8-9 hours
Terrain: canyon and valley terrain
Overnight: Feynan / Bedouin camp

DAY 3 — WADI FEYNAN → RAS AL-FAYD

Through the Dana landscapes

After breakfast, the trail continues from Wadi Feynan towards Ras Al-Fayd, taking you deeper into the dramatic landscapes of the Dana region.

Today is another full day on foot, with changing terrain, wide-open views and the feeling of being far from the everyday world.

Distance: approx. 18–21 km
Walking time: approx. 6-7 hours
Terrain: varied terrain / Dana landscapes
Overnight: Ras Al-Fayd |Bedouin camp

DAY 4 — WADI AL-FAYD → QUBUR WAHIDAT

Further into the wild

Wake up in the desert and continue your journey on foot.
Today takes you deeper into southern Jordan, crossing remote landscapes and rugged terrain as the trail leads towards Qubur Wahidat.
There are no big sights to tick off today. Just a long trail, changing landscapes and the feeling of going further into the wild.

Distance: approx. 18–20 km
Walking time: approx. 6-7 hours
Terrain: remote desert and rugged terrain
Overnight: Camping in Qubur Wahidat for an overnight

DAY 5 — Day 5 — Petra

The ancient path to Petra

Today, Petra becomes part of the trail.

Rather than approaching Petra through the famous Siq, you'll take the Back Door Trail, hiking through the surrounding mountains towards the Monastery.

After reaching the Monastery, continue down into Petra and explore the ancient archaeological site before making your way towards the main entrance.

DAY 6 — PETRA → WADI RUM

From ancient trails to open desert

After breakfast, we leave Petra behind and head towards Little Petra, a fascinating Nabataean site tucked among the sandstone cliffs.

After exploring Little Petra, we continue towards Wadi Rum. As the landscape opens up, the sandstone mountains and vast desert take over.

Once in Wadi Rum, explore the desert by 4x4 jeep, with stops along the way to walk, scramble and discover some of the area's extraordinary rock formations.

DAY 7 — WADI RUM → AMMAN

One last walk through Wadi Rum

Before leaving the desert, there’s time for one final hike through Wadi Rum.

Walk for approximately 4–5 hours through the vast sandstone landscape, following trails through the desert and taking in the silence, scale and beauty of this extraordinary place.

After the hike, enjoy lunch before leaving Wadi Rum and travelling towards Amman.

Is this trip for me?

This is an active adventure combining multi-day hiking, desert exploration, Petra and cultural experiences.

You don’t need to be an experienced mountaineer. What matters is that you enjoy being outdoors, are comfortable with active days and are ready to explore Jordan beyond the traditional sightseeing route.

Frequently asked questions

Is Jordan Active suitable for me if I’m not an experienced hiker?

You don’t need to be an experienced hiker, but you should have a good level of fitness and be comfortable walking for several hours at a time. Some hiking days are longer and include uneven terrain and elevation gain.

How much hiking is involved?

Hiking is an important part of the journey. Expect several hours on the trail on active days, including some longer hikes of around 15–20 km. The terrain varies from mountain trails and rocky paths to desert landscapes.

What kind of accommodation can I expect?

You’ll stay in a mix of comfortable hotels, desert camp and authentic Bedouin/cave accommodation. Some nights are simple and close to nature, while others offer more comfort.

Do I have to carry my luggage while hiking?

No. Luggage transfers are arranged during the camping sections, so you can hike with your daypack and carry only what you need for the day.

What happens if I can’t complete a hike?

Our routes are planned with the group’s safety in mind. If you’re unable to continue, your guide will assess the situation and help determine the safest option.

Is this a women-only trip?

Yes. Jordan Active is exclusively for women and is designed as a small-group adventure.

What is the group size?

We keep the group small, with a maximum of 10 women.

Is the Jordan Pass included?

Yes. We arrange the Jordan Pass for you, so you don’t have to worry about purchasing it yourself.

What should I pack?

You’ll receive a detailed packing list before departure. Good hiking shoes, comfortable outdoor clothing, sun protection, a reusable water bottle and a daypack are essential
